Matthew O’Connor is a film and game composer based in Vancouver, Canada. Matthew has most recently scored Good Bad Things directed by Shane Stanger. Good Bad Things is an official selection for the 2024 Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, UT and features a heartfelt score by Matthew combining his love for dramatic scoring and popular music.

Matthew was on the music team for two AAA video games in 2022 and 2023: Minecraft Legends and Disney Mirrorverse assisting composer Crispin Hands at Lionshead Entertainment. Minecraft Legends was a Music + Sound Awards Awards finalist in two categories in 2023.

Matthew was one of twenty students selected to attend the Screen Scoring Masters program at the University of Southern California. Among the exceptional faculty at USC, Matthew has had the distinct pleasure of studying with film composer Lawrence Shragge and video game composer Garry Schyman.

Matthew finds constant inspiration in the natural world and loves hiking, paddleboarding and road trips along the West Coast when he is not in the studio. He is also an avid gamer and loves getting lost in open world games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or anything by CD Projekt Red.
